Did you know that 92% of teachers said that they gained knowledge that will help them guide career exploration of current and future students? That's because our ZOOM Career Days are designed to inspire and educate both youth and educators about the opportunities available to them in the Region of Waterloo. In a series of one-day sector focused career exploration opportunities, students in grades 11 & 12 can attend and speak with local industry professionals. During each event, students have the opportunity to participate in 2-3 hands-on, interactive workshops and hear from a keynote speaker in the sector of focus. The sectors that we focus on are aligned with the Specialist High Skills Major in Waterloo Region. With the information gained at these events, students are better equipped to make informed decisions about their futures. The purpose of this program is not only to educate, but to encourage students to consider non-linear career paths that can lead them to fulfilling and sustainable careers.
If you are a student or teacher looking for event or registration infromation, please contact Callie Sockett (Community Connected Experiential Learning) or Solange Saraiva (SHSM Experiential Learning Officer). If you are an industry professional interested in presenting a hands-on, interactive workshop about your career, please contact Scott Verhoeve.
